May 2020 in Review

Posted June 6, 2020 by Kate

hello, lovelies!

You may have noticed… I moved locations! You used to follow me over on covertocoverlit.com, and now I’m at a self-hosted WordPress site under kateadreamer.com. I’m really excited about this change, and have been working nonstop to get this space up and running!! This rebranding has reignited my love for blogging, and I’m so ready to have a fantastic month chatting with you guys!

Honestly… all these books feel like so long ago! ? I was embroiled in a personal project for most of this month (i.e., building this new website, moving my old blog to a self-hosted site under a new URL and all the things that come with that…) so my reading wasn’t as much as I’d like, only at about 15 books this month. I normally read in the 20s range, but since I got this beautiful site this month… I can’t even complain :)

First, Black Lives Matter

This is not the time to dig your head in the sand. I can’t get on social media without seeing mostly #BlackLivesMatter content, and so neither can you. PLEASE, I encourage you, take the time to read the resources and learn how to be a better ally. I don’t get political on my bookish content profiles, but this isn’t politics, it’s human rights. There’s always more to learn, and Americans (and many others) still have a lot further to go in recognizing privilege and making this world a safer, more prosperous place for everyone, but especially, right now, for George Floyd.

I’m not educated enough in Allyship yet to give resources of my own, but please take the time to see the ones that people are kindly posting everyone, and I definitely recommend this video below. We watched this excellent video in my Communications Among Cultures class last semester, and I’ve been thinking about it a lot since, as it’s grown even more relevant.
