What's the worst thing that can happen to a werewolf? Unable to shift for three months, Mateo Cruz knows all too well. His wolf has taken up residence in his head, taunting him night and day with vividly violent and carnal thoughts. Convinced he's cursed, he needs the help of a powerful witch before he literally goes insane.
Evie Savoie has always obeyed the house rules of her coven — no werewolves. They're known for being moody and volatile. So, when a distempered, dangerous werewolf strolls into the bar and almost strangles one of her late-night customers, she's ready to bounce him through the door. But the desperation in his eyes when he begs her to help him softens her heart and convinces her to bend the rules.
What Evie doesn't know is that Mateo's wolf has a mind of his own. And now that she's in his sights, he wants only one thing. Her.

Thank you SO much to @liber_lady and @utcbookblog for recommending this book to me!!!! Who knew that rom-com PNR was absolutely what I was missing from my life? I am complete now <3

“Wolf Gone Wild” follows Mateo, a werewolf who has been hexed, and Evie, the only witch who can help him. Mateo’s hex hasn’t allowed him to let his wolf out in three months, and his wolf (named “Alpha” lol) is none too happy. Mateo’s wolf has always just been a part of him when he’s shifted in the past, but now, with the hex, Alpha has been talking. A lot. Allllllll the time, in fact. Who knew wolves were such chatterboxes? And violent! If the constant narration inside his head wasn’t enough, Alpha is all about dominance and wants to beat up the driver who cut them off, bloody the man who brushed past them in the bar, and bend Evie over the counter with nary a “hello.” Mateo’s on his last nerve, and begs Evie for her help.

Evie’s family – she and her other five sisters – run NOLA’s paranormal enforcement. But they have a rule: no. werewolves. Oops? While Evie works on figuring out and unknotting Mateo’s complicated Hex, Mateo manages to get her to promise to spend four hours a day in his company. As a Hex-Witch, her very presence is the only thing that calms Alpha and – most importantly – gets him to shut up so Mateo (a sculptor specializing in greek mythology) can get some work done.

“Man and beast needed to be near her, and there was nothing in the wide world I could do to deny it. Her proximity was all I needed.”

First thing to note, I 👏🏻 love 👏🏻 Alpha 👏🏻 so 👏🏻 much 👏🏻 He absolutely stole this show. His constant narration, while no doubt obnoxious to Mateo, was HILARIOUS! He’s all aggression and passion… especially the latter part was endlessly entertaining. And 🔥🙈 HOT 🙉🔥 omg this book is SO hot. I literally cannot. The scene where Alpha takes over in the haunted house??? I – 🔥🔥👏🏻

Mateo is a pretty sweet, laidback guy who is happy to be alone. Evie is vivacious, settled in her skin, but lacking self-confidence as a result of her previous relationship. They start a pretty immediate friendship, and I loved watching it build. They were so nerdy (okay, so Evie was just straight-up a dork) and cute!! They’re ADORABLE, okay. Mateo is a sweet, adoring, romantic hero, but Alpha’s influence brought out a dark, deliciously flirtatious side that I just 🙌🏼✨ Have I mentioned that I love Alpha? They were just an incredibly fun duo – I mean trio 😂 I mean, have you ever wanted the heroine to go for the golden boy AND the bad boy? Here ya go 😎💫

I’m obsessed with this world: werewolves, vampires, witches and grim reapers. Plus a zombie cat!! This is the witch book I’ve been looking for :) It’s interesting, low-angst, banter-y and romantic, but still has all the paranormal elements I need. Plus a bit of a slow burn 🥺🥳 I’m thinking there will be a book following each sister – all hilarious and with varying personalities and magical specialties – so I’m JUMPING at the chance to continue this series, and will definitely be looking into reading more of Juliette Cross’s books!! 😁 [ Check out my review of book two ]
