A series of chance encounters leads to a sizzling new romance from the New York Times bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series.
The universe is conspiring against Ava Breevort. As if flying back to Phoenix to bury a childhood friend wasn't hell enough, a cloud of volcanic ash traveling from overseas delayed her flight back home to Boston. Her last-ditch attempt to salvage the trip was thwarted by an arrogant Scotsman, Caleb Scott, who steals a first-class seat out from under her. Then over the course of their journey home, their antagonism somehow lands them in bed for the steamiest layover Ava's ever had. And that's all it was--until Caleb shows up on her doorstep.
When pure chance pulls Ava back into Caleb's orbit, he proposes they enjoy their physical connection while he's stranded in Boston. Ava agrees, knowing her heart's in no danger since a) she barely likes Caleb and b) his existence in her life is temporary. Not long thereafter Ava realizes she's made a terrible error because as it turns out Caleb Scott isn't quite so unlikeable after all. When his stay in Boston becomes permanent, Ava must decide whether to fight her feelings for him or give into them. But even if she does decide to risk her heart on Caleb, there is no guarantee her stubborn Scot will want to risk his heart on her....

The weekend leading up to the reading rush, I embarked on a 48-hour readathon all by myself, with the goal of reading a few summer reads. By that, I mean those flirty and fun romance that are perfect poolside reads!

Fight or Flight is one I bought completely on a whim when I found it for super cheap at BookOutlet.com, and so the fact that I picked it up completely on a whim isn’t too surprising, either. It follows Ava and Caleb when they first meet at the airport, as Caleb shoves in front of her to claim that last first-class seat upgrade. GRR! Thus starts a challenge of one-upping as they bump into each other again and again throughout the airport, and when their flight is canceled and they’re forced to spend the night of their layover in a hotel… and they choose to share the room :) So hate/love romance? Check.

“When you were infatuated with someone, you failed to see their imperfections. When it was more than a fixation, you still cared about them in spite of their flaws.”

I read Fight or Flight for a romantic beach read vlog, and honestly, it was such a good pick! It was light-hearted and enjoyable and had moments of feminism that I truly enjoyed seeing in my romance books. Ava knew her worth (although struggled with it throughout the book), but when push-came-to-show and Caleb tried pushing her away, she looked at him and said “Really? You’re just going to lie to me to get me to go away? Just talk to me.”  I really appreciated her spine and strength in this book.

Caleb, on the other hand, is a bit of a different story. This guy was an ASSHOLE at the beginning of this story, one of those people that just make broad generalizations about people (and women) based off one small thing / their appearance. It annoys me so much when people in my real life do that, so I wasn’t welcoming it too much in this hero, but I did start to appreciate him more as the book progressed. Their dislike-to-hookup-to-friends-with-benefits evolution was truly fun to watch, and this one surprised me with how much I thoroughly enjoyed it!
