Spring Time, Cozy Time Book Tag [Original]

Posted April 12, 2020 by Kate

hello, lovelies!

Thank you for stopping by! This is my last day hosting for BookEnding Spring, and I have really enjoyed interacting with all of you!! My other posts will be linked at the bottom of this post, so feel free to check those out! I also created the Procrastination Book Tag, which seems to be a crowd favorite! Hmmm… I wonder why?? ?? Seems we all have some ‘splainin to do :)

Spring is one of my favorites, because it’s a cozy season!! I love sitting outside on my covered patio, feeling the breeze pass by me, or watching a thunderstorm in action, while staying warm and dry ? Plus all the beautiful flowers!! The blooms we have going on around my house are stunning, I’m terrified to look at them too long, afraid they’ll all blow away as I watch.

The Rules

  1. Thank the person who nominated you
  2. Give credit to the original creator of the tag (Kate @ Kate, a Dreamer Book Blog
  3. Link back to the original post (this one!)
  4. Nominate other bloggers who needs some cozy in their life!
  5. You DO NOT have to wait for a nomination to do this tag! Nominations are optional
  6. Link your post in the Master Linkey so other BookEnders can see it!
  7. Finally… link your posts in the comments! It’s not a rule, but I want to see them! ?

⚡️ Thunderstorm ⚡️

A book that surprised you

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor – I’ve read the first book three times now – and I love – but I just can’t get past the ending. It took such a turn, that I just sit there in shock and somehow never move on in the series. Someday! (Goodreads | Amazon)

The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic – This was my favorite read of 2019. The whole series is absolutely incredible and unexpected to me. It’s a NA College Sports romance, but honestly, it’s sooo much more than that. It’s emotional and it’s all about the bonds of friendships and team and freedom and fighting for yourself and oh my. I read the whole trilogy twice in four days, got no sleep, and read it seven times in 2019. (My Review)

Wolfsong by TJ Klune – I literally just finished this one, so it hasn’t been reviewed yet, but I’m still trying to find the words to say how much I adored this book. I know it will be one of my Top 10 books of the year, and it may even be #1. It went places I never expected and it was adorable and yet so emotional and shgokjsdklfjlka I need the next books NOW! (Goodreads | Amazon)

? Birds are chirping ?

A book about music

Rock Redemption by Nalini Singh on Cover to Cover Book and Blogging Blog by Kat Snark Rockstar Rock Star romance fox molly librarian contemporary romance    A Thousand Perfect Notes by CG Drews PaperFury cover to cover book blog kat snark

Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh – This is the first book in a whole series of musicians, and truly, they’re all absolutely wonderful. In this one, Fox (lead singer) and Molly (librarian) start with a one-night stand, until he proposes a month-long arrangement, as long as he’s on vacation. It’s a sweet, sweet story that is full of the love of family (found-family) and very sexy. A great first book – and the series only gets better from there! (My Review)

A Thousand Perfect Notes by CG Drews – This book was … oh my gosh… so emotional!! It was CG Drew’s debut novel (she’s one of my favorite book bloggers, and goes by the moniker PaperFury!) and it had me in tears. It’s a beautiful story and I can’t recommend it enough ✨ (Goodreads | Amazon)

Walk Through Fire by Kristen Ashley – This is one that I find myself constantly reaching for when feeling stressed or anxious, and I’ve read it at least once (sometimes twice) a year since it came out in 2015. The characters are real, flawed, dynamic and so humanistic that at times it literally feels like I can just reach out and touch them. It’s amazing to me that Ms. Ashley made these characters so real and honest that I related to them so heavily. With feels and intense emotions (which ran high for the full length of the book), the amazing plot (with a seriously amazing second-chance romance and hate-to-love romance involved), and great writing style, this book is absolutely unforgettable to me. (My Review)

Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews – This is one of my favorite series in all of existence. Ignore the cover, which is awful, and it’s one of the most well-done sci-fi/urban fantasy EVER. This magical world is amazing, and while the romance simmers in the background of the magical mystery, the slow burn is incredible. I’ve read this book… 14 times now? It’s the first I turn to when I need a hug (Fiercest Females in Urban Fantasy)

? A whole new wardrobe ?

A book with a beautiful cover

Cover to Cover Book Blog Kat snark reviews discussions book blogger book dragon reading reader recommendations star reads Review Adventure Book Junkie Trials Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

There are so many, honestly. But these three are the first that jumped into my mind. I think it’s worth noting that I actually DNF’d The Crown’s Game (Kindle Unlimited), loved Rebel of the Sands (My Review), and am reading Call Down the Hawk soon!

? Baby animals ?

A book featuring adorable animals

The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare – Featuring a lady who can’t help but rescue every broken, needy animal she meets (including an otter, a steer, a goat, a disabled dog, a hedgehog, a parrot, 13 kittens… and more) and her new neighbor, who demands she get rid of the animals. It was an adorable regency romance, yes, but the animals completely stole the show for me! (My Review

? Puddles ?

A book that with an A+ reading experience – one that was so fun to read (even if it wasn’t a total favorite)

The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller – This book was just straight-up fun. It’s not the most technically excellent fantasy I read, but I hardly cared about that when I was having the time of my life reading it. It genuinely made me giddy to read. Those two characters may be morally gray, but they had a true connection and were amazing to follow. (My Review)

Shortcake by Lucy Watson – I just finished this one, so my review’s not up yet but oh my gosh!! So much fun :) Emmy is the live-in caretaker for a kind old lady, who happens to be one of her best friends. What she didn’t know, was that she was named in the lady’s Will. Turns out, for Emmy or grandson Ben to get their inheritance, they have to spend a couple of months renovating the house and living in it together. And they despise each other. Really, he despises her, and things get messy quickly when a fake engagement is announced… (My Review)

Favorite books featuring a sweet, soft romance

Cover to Cover Book Blog Kat snark reviews discussions book blogger book dragon reading reader recommendations five star reads Mid-Year Book Freakout Book Tag Work in Progress by Staci Hart, Wolf Rain by Nalini Singh, Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic, Raven King by Nora Sakavic, All the King's Men by Nora Sakavic, The Boy Who Steals Houses by Cait @ PaperFury and CG Drews, Stay by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy, Rumor Has it by Jessica Lemmon, Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson, Ocean Light by Nalini Singh, Lonely Hearts by Heidi Cullinan, Love Lessons by Heidi Cullinan, Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews, the Fragile Ordinary by Samantha Young, The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

Written in Red by Anne Bishop – This is probably one of the softest romances I’ve ever read. This is not (no matter how it appears) a hard PNR romance. This book doesn’t involve werewolves or whatever – it’s nature’s creatures who are able to shapeshift into human form, and Meg, who is a human, but also a cassandra sangue (if she’s cut, she tells prophecy. But she can only be cut 1000 times) who was raised in captivity. So the romance between a wolf-given-human-form and a naive woman who just wants to help is so soft. (Goodreads | Amazon)

The House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas – The romance in this one is the softest. It goes through a sever dislike of each other, then this lovely friends moment where the other person is the only place they feel safe and they lean on each other and care for each other. It’s such a slow-burn romance, that you go through hundreds of pages of them just building this wonderful connection, before it culminates in love. (Goodreads | Amazon)

The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic – My sweet cinnamon roll boys in this are so soft. Andrew… is arguable for softness. But where it counts, he’s goo. Just puts on (the hardest) front. Everyone in this book is so sweet and lovely and are some of my favorite people (My Review)

Wolfsong by TJ Klune – I literally just finished this one, so it hasn’t been reviewed yet, but I’m still trying to find the words to say how much I adored this book. The romance in this is so soft and so sweet. Yet it goes through a lot ? I know it will be one of my Top 10 books of the year, and it may even be #1. It went places I never expected and it was adorable and yet so emotional and shgokjsdklfjlka I need the next books NOW! (Goodreads | Amazon)

[ Check out more books I reread when I need comfort here ]

Wild Man by Kristen Ashley – This book breaks my heart and is one of my favorite comfort reads. It follows Tess, a sweet woman who runs Tess’s Cakes, a bakery, and Brock Lucas. The book begins three months into their relationship… pretty much when Tessa figures out that Brock may have been dating her, but he was doing so for an investigation, to see if she in any way connected to her ex-husband’s shady dealings. Eeek! So they break up. But it’s not over… Tess was just so sweet and Brock was wild and alpha-y, but he was also exceptional gentle. It was a sweet romantic suspense, and I love how comfortable they are with each other and how comfortable I am each time I reread it (My Review)

Rock Hard by Nalini Singh – This is still one of my favorite books in all of existence and is definitely the best office romance I’ve ever read. The hero is a famous ex-rugby player, so I could work into this list, but it’s an excellent slow-burn romance where the characters have a truly amazing connection that evolved so carefully and gently. It was a slow burn, and it was tremendous. It deals with some heavy issues very well, and I love how they help each other heal themselves ✨ (My Review)

Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston – I was terrified of this book because it had so much hype surrounding it. Turns out… it was all warranted. This book was just plain fun to read. I laughed a lot and highlighted most of the book. These two boys had an amazing connection, and I loved the way they communicated with each other. STAN (My Review)

The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic – This book is character-driven and not for everybody. But these characters captured my heart! I read all three books in two very sleepless nights and then was so obsessed I reread the series immediately after. Then, I read it six more times throughout 2019! The first book is free on Kindle and the rest or 99c. But be aware of all the content warnings in this one. It’s a rough ride, but I’ve never loved characters more (Best Books of 2019

Top Secret by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy – This was one of my favorite reads of 2019, and is available on Kindle Unlimited! This book… was so absolutely enthralling. Not only was the plot engaging, but there was an enemies-to-lovers and friends-to-lovers bit thrown in! Luke and Keaton are enemies in real-life (as well as dorm-neighbors), but on the internet, they’re friends who heavily flirt. But this book was no fluff piece – it had a surprising amount of substance and depth for a new adult romance. This book just teems with life through the two characters: Luke, who is a bossy-ass in bed, but who struggles through life by the tips of his fingers, and Keaton, who was so adorably nerdy and wore his heart on his sleeve, even for a rich legacy kid. He had amazing animal facts, too! (My Review)

? Early bird gets the worm ?

A favorite March/April new release you read OR favorite 2020 #ARC you’ve received

Beefcakes by Kalana Collins (ARC) – This one surprised me, and essentially restarted my love of rom-coms! High school sweethearts shoved back together for a reality show so Neil can get his mom’s (and now his) cupcakery out of debt, and so Elaina can prevent the commercialization of their quaint small-town, meant a lot of laughs. Watching them come together as a team and a couple was very rewarding as they learned to work together and trust again. They had lots of years of hurt to make up for, but they did it ✨ I definitely recommend this adorable small-town second-chance, hate-to-love foodie romance! (My Review

Code of Honor by April White (ARC) – This was a very fun romance between an art thief (although stealing back… is it still theft?) and a private security expert. He knows it was her, but he just can’t prove it. They end up working together to solve a 30 year heist and it was actually a fun, interesting read! I’m not an art history person, but even I was intrigued (My Review)

Every Other Weekend by Abigail Johnson (ARC) – This one completely surprised me. I’m not going to be able to get everything in list little blurb, so I do recommend reading my review, but wow. It featured two teenagers who live next door to each other in their every-other-weekend apartments when they stay with the other divorced parent. I think it will hit hard for any child of a broken family, and felt very important while reading, but was also fun enough in developing the friendship between the two that it didn’t wallow in the emotions. (My Review)

Dream Maker by Kristen Ashley – Kristen Ashley is a go-to for me, y’all know that by now. She’s an auto-buy author to the extreme, so of course, I’m going to get her newest release, and am eagerly anticipating the start of this new series!! An engineering student (and a hyper-intelligent one at that!) working at a strip club to put herself through school + overly protective bossy bad buy who’s damaged but puts on a funny-guy front? Hello, yes! Plus, it’s our first New Adult from KA! I’m already sold. (GoodreadsAmazon)

Alpha Night by Nalini Singh – Alpha Night is definitely one of my top few anticipated books of the year. As the fourth book in the Psy-Changeling sister series, The Psy-Changeling series, my favorite series continues to grow and evolve and get better with each book. I’m so, so anxious to see what happens next! (My review of book 1)

Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater – It’s really quite inexcusable that I haven’t read this yet. I love the Raven Boys series, Ronan is my person and I’m a sucker for the whole Adam&Ronan Thing. Plus they’re in college? I need!! It’s going to happen next month. For sure. (Spring TBR)

  1. Ahhh, I love your picks! I desperately need to pick up Tessa Dare’s books, I’ve heard such wonderful things! I’m currently reading The Shadows Between Us (almost done with it!) and I absolutely agree that it is such a fun fantasy/mystery novel! I just finished Crescent City and the romance was everything! Just give me book two already!

I loved reading your answers! Great post <3

    • Thank you!!! And I agree with everything you just said with the books!! My first Tessa Dare was When a Scot Ties the Knot and I still think it’s one of the most adorable regency’s I’ve read :) Yayyy for loving Shadows and Crescent City!!
