Anticipated Releases for Spring 2020 (feat. too many good rom-coms)

Posted April 11, 2020 by Kate

hello, lovelies!

While my book buying is at an all-time low right now (as it should be, given current circumstances), that doesn’t mean I don’t have my eye on the prize. Scribd, Kindle Unlimited and the library will have my back in the adventure, and there are plenty of books to make the list that I must have!! I’ll never read all of these, but there are so many good releases set to come out in the next three months, I have to try!

And so many good rom-coms??? Like what the heck, I need them all. My heart melted too many times just reading the descriptions ?

For all my BookEnding Spring people, thanks for coming! I’ve loved hosting and I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with!! Please, please put your links in the comments down below, I want to see your posts and see what you are anticipating reading!! Remember to start by recommending some 2020 (or late 2019) books you’ve read before you jump into the anticipated reads! And linking to GoodReads will be really helpful for rabid-readers like me looking (for some unfathomable reason) to add books to our TBR! Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with xx

Recommending 2020 books…

The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller

[ My Review ]

Tricia Levenseller has a penchant for writing light, but punchy stories that are so good but also quick. The two morally questionable, murder-prone lovers genuinely made each other happy, which was amazing to witness. I love books with fearsome, tricky, deceptive heroines, and Alessandra didn’t disappoint. This book made me genuinely giddy to read, and I really can’t recommend enough! Release Date: Feb. 25, 2020

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

You’ve seen this book everywhere, but I can’t help but weigh in. I’m not going to lie… I read this book in a single day and I loved it. It was a bit lengthier than necessary, for sure, but I can’t say that there were any points where I drifted off or wished she hadn’t put a certain part in. I will admit, I was very confused by the set-up at first, and the first 20 pages had me freaking out in confusion, but she got me there. Adult is where SJM is meant to be and the story was obviously more mature than her other works. I loved the soft friendship (and eventually…. more) between Hunt and Bryce. And Bryce? An icon. She owned everything she did and I rooted for her. Release Date: March 3, 2020

Love Hard by Nalini Singh

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

The long-awaited sequel to Cherish Hard and Rock Hard, two of my favorites from Nalini Singh’s contemporary series, this was everything I wanted from her. I haven’t published my review yet, but the single-dad romance with a childhood friend… was so cute!! And little Esme, the six-year-old daughter, completely stole the show for me. Heartfelt, warm and absolutely lovely, I fell in love with this one. Release Date: March 10, 2020

Beefcakes by Katana Collins (ARC)

[ My Review ]

This one surprised me, and essentially restarted my love of rom-coms! High school sweethearts shoved back together for a reality show so Neil can get his mom’s (and now his) cupcakery out of debt, and so Elaina can prevent the commercialization of their quaint small-town, meant a lot of laughs. Watching them come together as a team and a couple was very rewarding as they learned to work together and trust again. They had lots of years of hurt to make up for, but they did it ✨ I definitely recommend this adorable small-town second-chance, hate-to-love foodie romance! Release Date: March 24, 2020

A Madness of Sunshine by Nalini Singh

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

Madness of Sunshine was absolutely perfect to me. It was my first thriller/mystery in a while, and it did NOT disappoint. It took place in small-town New Zealand and the romance was just light enough in the background to keep the focus on the mystery, but sizzing enough that you were aware of it the whole time. First Singh’s first time in the genre, it was amazing. Release Date: December 3, 2019

Every Other Weekend by Abigail Johnson (ARC)

My Review

This one completely surprised me. I’m not going to be able to get everything in list little blurb, so I do recommend reading my review, but wow. It featured two teenagers who live next door to each other in their every-other-weekend apartments when they stay with the other divorced parent. I think it will hit hard for any child of a broken family, and felt very important while reading, but was also fun enough in developing the friendship between the two that it didn’t wallow in the emotions. Truly a stunner. Release Date: April 7, 2020

April Releases

Chosen Ones by Veronica Roth

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

The Chosen Ones has a lot of really great tropes in it, but most intriguing, it’s about what happens to the Heroes, the Chosen Ones, after they save the world? It’s a compelling concept, and I can’t wait to see how Roth handles it! I didn’t finish Allegiant when that went to shit, and I have no problem doing the same here. But somehow, I think we’ll be alright with this one. Release Date: April 7, 2020

Dewdrop by Katie O’Neill

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

Katie O’Neill wrote the Tea Dragon Society, which was one of singlar most adorable things I’ve ever encountered. So I’m ready for more cuteness with her newest release! Release Date: April 7, 2020

A Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

Darynda Jones wrote the hilarious Charley Davidson series – seriously one of the funniest books in existence – so even though I have no idea what this one is about, I’m so excited for it!! Be ready to laugh :) Release Date: April 7, 2020

Ruthless Gods by Emily A. Duncan

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

Wicked Saints is on my OWLs Readathon TBR, and that sounds amazing. The back blurb includes the phrases, “blood-drenched fairy tale, where the monsters steal your heart and love ends up being the nightmare.” UMMMMMM??? YES!! So obviously I’ll need this second book. Pronto. Release Date: April 7, 2020 (My review of Wicked Saints)

The Switch by Beth O’Leary

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

This book sounds so cute! 80-year-old grandma and 20-something Leena switch homes – the grandma moves into Leena’s London Flat to find love, and Leena moves into her grandma’s cottage in a small Yorkshire village for a much-needed sabbatical. Except :) I need this one now!! Release Date: April 30, 2020

The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

In summation… Sloan finds an adorable puppy that makes her life complete. But the owner is texting her, and wants his dog back. But those texts turn flirty…. *wiggles eyebrows* another adorable rom-com I really want! Epistolary romance is always a win with me, no matter the medium :) Release Date: April 14, 2020

Girl Gone Viral by Alisha Rai

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

Good thing the guy she does want (bodyguard and friend) Jas Singh whisks her off to a remote location to a family home. Release Date: April 21, 2020 (My Review of the Right Swipe)

You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

This one sounds so cute!! What happens when two people are stuck in a loveless marriage, three months away from a lavish wedding and whoever breaks the engagement has to pay for it?? It devotes into a series of “pranks, sabotage and all-out warfare.” But after all that… do they still really want to break the engagement? YES PLEASE Release Date: April 7, 2020

Bookish and the Beast by Ashley Poston

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

Ashley Poston’s geeky romances are like holding small pieces of happiness in your hands. I loved Geekerella and I’m getting ready to dive into The Princess and the Fangirl this summer and I’m so ready to have another one to read with The Bookish and the Beast! Release Date: June 16, 2020

Rage and Ruin by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Admittedly, I haven’t read the first book in this series, Storm and Fury. But it’s certainly one I’m looking to get back to! I’ve avoided JLA’s young adult books for awhile now, terrified that nothing will measure up to Lux-level expectations, but I think I’m finally ready to dive back in. Not everything can be Daemon/Katy level :) Release Date: June 9, 2020

The Damned by Renee Ahdieh

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

The Beautiful is one of the first books on my overall 2020 TBR, and now that there’s a second on it’s way, my urgency has only increased. I love PNR/urban fantasy stories, and set in New Orleans? Please. I must have! Release Date: June 2, 2020

You Say it First by Katie Cutogno

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

Epistolary romances are one of my favorite tropes… and phone-call-love isn’t much different, in my book. I love the premise of this one, and will surely be picking this college-aged romance up from the library as soon as it comes available!! Release Date: June 16, 2020

Faked by Karla Sorenson

I loved Karla Sorenson’s Baking Me Crazy (My Review) and this premise just sounds like the perfect start to a star-eyed romance!! Impersonating your twin to snag a date with the guy you’ve had an unrequited crush on for years? Devious, and I’m into it. As soon as this releases, I’m picking it up from Kindle Unlimited! Release Date: June 16, 2020

Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas

The Court of Miracles by Kester Grant

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

I love a book from a thief’s perspective, especially one that gains the attention of “The ruthless lord of the guild of flesh” — eek! Let’s back away slowly from that man. Set in post-revolutionary France, i.e., utter chaos, I think this one will be fun! Reminds me of Gilded Wolves?  Release Date: June 2, 2020

The Falling in Love Montage by Ciara Smyth

Check out Goodreads | Shop on Amazon

A montage of all the falling-in-love moments sounds like an adorable read, but the blurb also sounds like this one may be handling some deep issues. Can’t wait to read this FF romance :) Release Date: June 9, 2020

  1. So many of these books are on my TBR! Also, thank you for introducing me to Dewdrop! It looks super adorable and I’m going to have to buy it for my future niece/nephew!

  2. you gave us such a nice long list of books !!

There was some already on my virtual wanna read, but I also added You say it first, Only When it’s us and every other weekend on it !

    • Honestly, that’s the question ? I have a page in my bullet journal for releases each month I want to know about ahead of time, and I also request a lot of these books ahead of time from the library! That way, I don’t have to remember the release date, it will just notify me when I can finally read it :) Also, chucking a bunch of books in an Amazon wishlist is a great way to keep track! Then every time you’re buying books, you can just peruse the list and see what’s available. GR’s monthly batch of new releases by author’s I’ve read helps a lot, too :)

OMG I LOVED House of Earth and Blood!

I want to finish The Dark Elements first before starting Harbinger, so we’ll see about the second book later on.

I think I will listen to The Shadows Between Us since it’s getting mixed reviews and it’s quite pricey on Amazon. Too many negative experiences with anticipated releases with mixed reviews lately…..

    • Yes!! I was nervous going in but I should have known SJM wouldn’t let me down. For shadows… I’m not going to say that it’s the best fantasy I’ve ever read. Critically, it’s like a 3.5 star. But the characters were so much fun and the reading experience made me giddy!! I enjoyed reading it so much – it’s a very light read, which is Levenseller’s specialty. Let me know what you think if you do get to read it!
