Books I Can't Wait to Reread (an illness)

Hello, lovelies!

I’m not sure how widely I share this across this platform, but I’m a huuuuge rereader. I have a shit-ton of books, my TBR is miles long, and yet you can often find me curled up in my chair with an old favorite that I’ve read millions of times. Literally, I’ve read Burn for You by Ilona Andrews at least 21 times, and I’m not making that number up. Lately, I’ve found myself in a bit of a book slump where I have to force myself to pick up books that I know I’ll love and enjoy.

It’s moments like these that I turned to my beloved books to get me excited about reading again. The following books are all ones that I would love to reread again in the near future. But these are also… kind of intimidating???

1. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

I’ve read the original three books probably at least seven times now… back when I thought it was a trilogy, and then each subsequent time a new installment was released. But now the thought of reading Empire of Storms, Tower of Dawn and Kingdom of Ash is really quite an intimidating thought. Those books are monsters!! I love them to death, but good lord. What an emotional toll that would be *sweats* (Goodreads | Amazon)

2. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

It’s been good four-ish-plus years since I originally finished this series, but I remember how fun it was, and would love to reread it. However, knowing the end like I now do, the initial sparkle is gone and I’m not sure that I would enjoy as much as I once did. That being said, I love the characters in this one so much, that I know it will be worth it! And with Call Down the Hawk freshly released, this reread will happen this year in 2020. But… gosh it’s just intimidating, isn’t it?? (Goodreads | Amazon)

3. The Seven Realms by Cinda Williams Chima

This is one of my favorite high fantasy series, hands-down, and I’ve reread it several times. The political intrigue, the inquisitiveness, and the character development and buildup were just absolutely superb in a way that few books can comprehend. But rereading this series means rereading the sister-series, of which I’ve only read the first two books, and I know I’ll love them. Just having some… beloved-author-anxiety. (Goodreads | Amazon)

4. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

This went down as my favorite duology of all time. A different duology is not immediately coming to mind. However, I’m sure this one will beat any others out 100% of the time. This world-building and the gentle romance and the scheming were all just absolute perfection, that I’m hesitant to go back in, afraid that it won’t be nearly as precious as it was the first time. But also… Kaz and Inej ✨ This reread will happen, but it’s certainly intimidating, as this is in the measuring stick I use for most YA High Fantasy/heist novels. (Goodreads | Amazon)

5. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

This was once a trilogy and is now a series that the author decided to restart after a four-year gap and to say that I wasn’t pleased with the fourth book would be a severe understatement. I’ve reread the trilogy a handful of times and have enjoyed it each time. But now, knowing what I know from the fourth book, I’m not sure my enjoyment would be the same. If I could burn the book and the accompanying knowledge that comes with it, I think I would. Warner and Juliette were two of my favorite precious children but now they’ve been… muddled. (Goodreads | Amazon)

6. Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward

This is an extensive series, at about 18 books at the moment, and I stopped at about book 10 about three-and-a-half years ago. I love the series, but just took a break and then … got swept up in other books. You know how it is. But stepping back into the series means rereading at least 10 fairly chunky books to catch up in knowledge, and will be quite the expedition. Something I’m not sure I’m ready for… yet. Someday, hopefully, it will happen. (Goodreads | Amazon)

7. Harry Potter

Because of course! Contrary to popular opinion, I haven’t actually read this series… in maybe four or so years. Yikes. It’s been waayyyy too long and I need to remedy the gap! I’m very much looking forward to the annual Harry Potter readathon this summer when hopefully I’ll get a refresher on one of my favorite series. (Goodreads | Amazon)

8. A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab

I saw someone in the coffee shop who had this paperback sitting on the table next to their latte while they were working… and man it brought back so much!! I didn’t approach her, because she seemed really cool, but oh my gosh I very suddenly missed my Kell with his wonderful coat and Lila, with her adventurous spirit ✨ Considering I never got around to reading book three (WHY? I can’t say??), I will hopefully be picking this one up this year! Fingers crossed… (Goodreads | Amazon)

  1. Great post! :D I love the Harry Potter series and have re-read them a lot of times. Black Dagger Brotherhood is a very engaging series! There are great times but also bad times but it made it more realistic. I haven’t resumed reading the series yet. I’m stuck with whether I’ll read “The King”, I think it was Wrath and Beth’s story again which I hate because for me their story already ended at book 1.

    • I stopped at THE KING, too. I don’t like romances that revisit previously finished ones… I like to think they have a HEA and move on, even if it is more realistic. But I need to read it someday, because I want to read the sister-series!! Have you read the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh?? That’s one of my favorites! If you liked JR Ward, you’re sure to love Nalini Singh ?✨

      • Yes, they already have their HEA, I feel like Wrath will mess up big time on this book and I’m scared to read it. Oh I have started reading the series years ago and the last book I finished is Dorian’s (the latent guy, book 5) and I’m planning to resume reading the series this year. I just re-read Slave to Sensation recently, still a 5 star read for me. :D

Are you by any chance the one I’m conversing with regarding Psy-Changeling series recently? Or did I actually found two other people who loves the series? Haha. Anyways, it’s great finding people who also loves Paranormal Romance. :D

  2. I honestly feel like every time I reread Harry Potter it gets better!! And I’ve only reread Six of Crows once, but I def liked it more the second time so will probably be rereading a third time soon lmao

    • I can’t wait to reread HP! I remember feeling the same way about it, back when I reread it (and Percy Jackson, of course!) ALL the time! SOC is ??? Kaz and Inej are just ? I can’t wait to reread it again, someday!!
