After participating in the Halloweentown Book Tag last week, I found another fun tag, The Fall Bucketlist Book tag created by Tiffany @ Read by Tiffany! I had to do that, too, of course!

Fall is absolutely my favorite season, and I’m so glad that I live on such a gorgeous campus this year to experience the season in full. The trees are gorgeous and the leaves are everywhere, and the weather is crisp… as Chandler Bing would say, could it be anymore perfect?!

A book that is lighthearted

The Billionaire’s Wake-Up Call Girl by Annika Martin – someone recommended this to me and I was expecting just a quick fluffy romp of a read … and it was so much more! It was absolutely light-hearted and fun, yes, but it also had depth and was absolutely hilarious! It was one of my most surprising reads of the year in 2018, actually. (Goodreads | Amazon)

A book that has a lot of hype

The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh – You know, I don’t know much about this one, admittedly. I love Renee Ahdieh’s sumptuous writing style from The Wrath and the Dawn, and I really hope she delivers on that promise of more!! Plus, it’s supposed to be a vampire story! Everyone’s all “Vampires are Back!” and I’m over here wondering when they left, because I still love vampires. A lot of my reader-friends were reading this, and from what they’ve told me and just general feedback I’ve seen, this is not a vampire story. It merely lives in a world where vampires exist, which is a tad disappointing. But I’m relieved that I know that, over wise I’d have spent the whole book waiting for the vampires to show up (like everyone else has). Nevertheless, I’m super pumped! I’m getting a lot of The Originals vibes from this – probably because it’s about the seedy underbelly of New Orleans and it *has* (but doesn’t feature) vampires. (Goodreads | Amazon)

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo – I love college books, and Ninth House makes a promise that I hope it can fulfill. The main character has a bit of a shady and horrifyingly traumatic past, and she’s offered a second-chance to attend Yale University… with the task of monitoring the secret societies by her mysterious benefactor. I’m still waiting a book about witches in college (PLEASE!!), but I’ll certainly take this one while we wait. I’m hearing that this one is a very atmospheric read with many content warnings, so this sounds like my kind of book about living and surviving. Let’s do it! (Goodreads | Amazon)

A book that has fun friendships

This one is super fun, because it’s a fun mix of magical powers and crazy mating scenes, all while pushing a subtle but important message of friendship and loyalty. This book is found family at it’s finest, and it’s not to be missed, and I mean that truly. In a lot of books, with YA in particular, yes there’s a teenager and oh, she’s struggling with a huge role of responsibility thrust on her (suddenly and unexpectedly becoming Queen of Shifters in the world of the Mysticals), but we don’t ever get to see her still being a kid. This trilogy takes you all the way through those phases, and you really live it with them. I’ve read this one, again and again, adoring it not only because of those super-fun magical powers and slow-burn romance but also for the friendship. Wear a cozy sweater

A book that warms your heart

This is another one in a long list that I find myself constantly reaching for when feeling stressed or anxious, and I’ve read it at least once (sometimes twice) a year since it came out in 2015. In fact, it was my favorite book of the year that year. The characters in this one are real, flawed, dynamic and so humanistic that at times it literally feels like I can just reach out and touch them. It’s amazing to me that Ms. Ashley made these characters so real and honest that I related to them so heavily. Millie’s actions weren’t always the smartest, but I always understood them and felt the emotion behind it. I was screaming and crying right along with her at Logan, because WHAT THE FUCKITY FUCK or whatever the instance happened to be.

Bottom line, the feels and intense emotions (which ran high for the full length of the book), the amazing plot (with a seriously amazing second-chance romance and hate-to-love romance involved), and great writing style, this book is absolutely unforgettable to me. A character who’s a talented chef

Beard Science is one of my favorite Winston Brother’s books because it features one of my favorite Winston Brothers: Cletus!! He is a hilarious prankster and genius that Ms. Reid really brings to life. But Cletus’s girl, Jennifer Sylvester, is also known as Green Valley’s Banana Cake Queen, and owner of Donner Bakery, which yields the town’s yummiest foods. She was such fun character and had my mouth salivating with the major part food played in this one. (Goodreads | Amazon)

Jump into a pile of leaves

A book that made you jump for joy

I read this one in one complete sitting (twice!) and sacrificed so much sleep and love for this book. It is the perfect encapsulation for being in college, with first love, with so much feeling and emotion and so realistic. The emotions just pour out of the book. Oh, I can’t. Just reading about this is making me hanker for a reread. It’s the best kind of boy-meets-boy, and I just melted. And did I mention? They were roommates! Oh thinking about this makes me giddy all over again! (Goodreads | Amazon)
