good morning, readathoners!
Today I’m bringing you my TBR for the O.W.Ls Magical Readathon! It’s suuuper fun, the magical community is really sweet, so please check it out if you’re interested! The readathon stretches from April 1st – April 30th, so it’s a month-long. The readathon provides a list of 12 challenges, all pertaining to a class offered at Hogwarts.
Because the basis of the readathon is to pass your O.W.Ls, which are the wizarding exams from Harry Potter, G (the host from @Book_Roast) provides a booklet list of possible careers for you to pick, and each career as a list of exams you must pass.
*list is subject to change, and it probably will based on my mood.
primary challenges
After much deliberation, I chose the career of “Hogwarts Professor.” It’s such a great place–why would I want to leave? In order to fulfill my examination requirements, I must pass 7 Ordinary Wizarding Levels (O.W.Ls) in total. I must pass the Defense Against the Dark Arts exam, an exam in a subject that I wish to teach as a professor, as well as five other exams of my choice.
Out of the 12 total challenges given for the readathon, the seven relating to my chosen career are my primary goals throughout the month of April; however, I’m hoping to finish the remaining five challenges as well, if time allows.
About the book: It’s a Romeo and Juliet retelling, which is sort of scary, considering the end of that particular “epic love story.” But I adore Ms. Hodge’s dark atmospheric fantasies, and she hasn’t let me down, yet!
About the book: SEAL of Honor is a military romance about an ex-SEAL who is heading a task force hired to find a wealthy American businessman. The businessman’s sister hired the crew … and I expect this one to be a fun ride!
About the book: There’s almost nothing that I love more than a Kristen Ashley novella. Truly, I’m impressed that she managed to write a novella because most of her attempts turn into full-length novels anyway.
About the book: Okay, there’s no much I love more than a rag-tag team of thieving children! And this one is set in space!! Oh I really can’t wait :)
About the book: College romances are a favorite of mine, especially when they’re done right and not all the scary, dumb elements that NA seems to be full of lately
About the book: Ace of Shades, book one, was SUCH a ride!! I loved the dark, thieving, scheming elements! “House of the rising sun” meets Six of Crows, indeed. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
About the book: The first one was such a shock and delightful surprise! Ms. Taylor certainly knows how to create a mystifying world full of amazing characters!
Additional Challenges
These are the remaining challenges not related to my chosen career. Although I’m not required to complete the following challenges to pass my exams, a little extra can never hurt, can it? ;)
About the book: Everyone seems to love this??? I can’t tell you how often I saw this book around the inter-webs after its release, and finally, it was freed up in my library! I can’t wait :)
About the book: Another lawless, rag-tag crew of criminals trying to save themselves and the universe!
About the book: Everyone loves this book, and I loved Fangirl, so hopefully, I read this one, too!
About the book: Childhood best friend/love interest returns home from jail, the summer before college! She doesn’t know what to think, because he was never who she thought he was. But what if he was set up? I got partway through this one before but stopped because a high-priority new release that was much more important.
About the book: Regency romance is my guilty pleasure, and this one sounds quite pleasant! A woman wakes up with no idea who or where she is. She was rescued by a Grant Morgan, who has mistaken her for someone else, one of London’s most scandalous beauties. But who is she really??
